The Alleghany Highlands is home to two charming, walkable downtowns.

The Town of Clifton Forge and the City of Covington are uniquely Alleghany. Both communities have picturesque downtowns filled with friendly people and locally owned shops and restaurants. Each has interesting architecture and magnificent historic buildings. Take some time to visit both downtowns.

A great benefit of being in the Alleghany Highlands is that these two great downtowns are surrounded by beautiful mountains and national forest. Scenic drives, historic Humpback Bridge, hiking, biking and paddling are all nearby. No need to choose between exploring a charming downtown or exploring a mountain trail.
