Indie folk-rock singer-songwriter Calista Garcia brings mix of complexity and sophistication to her confessional musings that carry a hint of pop and blues. As seen on Season 16 of NBC’s The Voice, her style harkens back to ’70s classic acts such as Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell, but with a fresh modern twist. Her debut extended play (EP) collection “Wild Woman” was released in April 2019 to much critical acclaim, garnering a nomination for “Best Roots/Country EP” in the 2020 Independent Music Awards. The project has also won multiple nominations and awards from International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA), the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) and the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest (MASC). Calista is currently working on her second record, A Beautiful World, scheduled for release in 2021. A prolific songwriter who plays guitar, piano, ukulele, bass, mandolin and harmonica, Calista also writes for the stage, having completed her second classic-rock inspired musical, Crystal Skies, which premiered in April 2018. Crystal Skies was a 2020 semifinalist for the Eugene O’Neill Musical Theatre Conference.

From Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Original Rhondels are a music tradition who have performed their hit recordings in almost every major city in the United States. In 1969, Bill Deal and the Rhondels began a recording career that would take them to Madison Square Garden and across the country. With 3 top 10 hits, “May I”, “I’ve Been Hurt”, and “What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am”, the band hit the road, delighting their audiences with outstanding vocals, powerful brass, and exciting showmanship. These hits also topped the charts in Argentina, Spain, Brazil, Germany and Mexico. The unexpected passing of Bill Deal in December of 2003 was a great loss to the music industry, however the Original Rhondels continue to perform the great music that earned them a star on the Legends Walk of Fame. Performing from Orlando & Tampa, Florida, to Charleston & Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; from Montgomery, Alabama to Washington, D.C., the Original Rhondels continue to delight their audiences at corporate and family events, as well as festivals and concerts.

The Walkaways Friday July 9, 2021 7:30pm Masonic Amphitheatre Summer Music Series $25 The Walkaways are a metropolitan DC-based band, making original music since 2006. The band released its third full-length album entitled “After the Fall” in 2017. This follows Fifty Left to Burn (2008) and Romance and Medicine (2012), the latter recorded and co-produced with Grammy-nominated producer John Jennings (Mary Chapin Carpenter, Indigo Girls, The Rankin Family, Iris Dement). From the beginning The Walkaways’ sound has been called “alt-country” (Washington Post, Washington City Paper, Washingtonian Magazine), and that description still fits pretty well. Their songs draw even more broadly, however, from Americana, folk, roots rock, country, indie, and classic rock. Key influences include Ryan Adams, Son Volt, Wilco, Springsteen, Uncle Tupelo, Josh Ritter, The Band, and Old 97s. You can hear The Walkaways play live at popular DC-area venues that support original music, including Pearl Street Warehouse, Gypsy Sallys, Evening Star Cafe, and Port City Brewery, 7 Locks Brewing, New District Brewing Company, Falls Church Distillers, along with local festivals, charity events, and every now and then at venues in NYC like Arlene’s Grocery and Rockwood Music Hall.

By the time Austin was asked by NBC in 2014 to be on Season 6 of The Voice, he had already written and produced two studio albums by himself before deciding to audition. Austin, after being chosen by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine during the blind auditions, was partnered with Josh Kaufman to create one of the season’s most memorable moments by singing the hit “Happy” by Pharell Williams. The training and coaching Austin received during his experience on the show has taken his talent and career to an even higher level! Bonner Black began her life on stage as a classical ballerina. She danced as senior member of the Academy of Classic Arts in Huntsville, Alabama and won scholarships to dance with the Eglevsky Ballet in NYC along with several other prestigious professional companies.

Taylor Carson Masonic Amphitheatre 7:30pm $25 Taylor’s resume boasts well over 1,000 performances and six full-length records released; his two most recent, “With Innocence” 2013 and “Go Amaze” 2016 both debuted in the Top 10 on the iTunes charts. 2017 was a studio year for Carson. Thanks to that, Carson released his 7th full-length record, “After the Tamer Has Gone” to critical acclaim in December 2018. “Tamer” debuted at #2 on the iTunes charts and has Carson getting back to his roots. From the delicate, “I Believe in You” which is a song Carson wrote for his daughter about never letting anything get in the way of her imagination. To “Josephine.” A story about a girl who leaves her small town to chase dreams and marquees in the big city. There is always something to fix, but that is surely not what wins out on “After the Tamer Has Gone.” http://www.taylorcarson.com
